Phearsom
*Chases a lizard down the road for an hour. Smells food in the distance. leaves the lizard, heads towards a big lighted place. Trots across asphalt, tired from the lizard chase. Hears a loud blare, sees headlights of a huge truck. Bleats loudly, darts into some bushes*

*Leaning against the gas pump I looked around at the truck stop and wondered what the name of this little town was. As I squeezed the handle to fill the tank I couldn’t keep myself from yawning. Time for some caffeine and a sugar boost I guess. I’d already spent about six hours on the road today and was hoping to do several more, unless some place caught my fancy as I passed it. Driving cross-country with no set time frame had given me the freedom to stop whenever I wanted and explore interesting sights along the way. I hung up the nozzle and replaced the gas cap. Taking my purse I headed toward the little convenience store. Just as I neared the edge of the building I saw a small white dog move in the bushes near the rear corner of the building. Changing direction I moved closer to check it out.*
Phearsom
*peers out the bushes, sees a tiny giant staring at me. Bleats loudly but stays still. Hopes she has watermelon balls*

*As the little animal moved in the shadows I could see it wasn’t a dog, but a small goat. Memories of Arthur immediately came to mind. I sure did miss that little guy. Just as that thought hit me, the goat stepped further away from the cover of the bushes and I could see a collar and tag around the animals neck.* Arthur? *My heart started to pound with excitement. No Way!! Moving very slow so that I wouldn’t scare him off I took a granola bar out of my bag and held it out in front of me and walked closer. Talking softly to the small creature as I went.* Arthur…is that you?
Phearsom
*moves closer, recognizing the soft voice. Spies the granola bar, gobbles it down in two bites. Remembers you now, hops up into your arms. Glares at the big growling trucks all around*
WithoutSunlight
*Catching the jumping, bouncing little bundle and laughing out loud.* Oh my god, Arthur! *Taking hold of the tag hanging from the collar all doubts vanished as I could see that it proudly proclaimed ‘Phearsom’.*
Phearsom
*Thinks I am saved from life as a renegade goat. Lowers ears to avoid detection from the growling trucks*
WithoutSunlight
*I picked up the squirming goat and carried him back to my car. I didn’t know how Arthur came to be all alone here in the middle of god-knows-where, but I wasn’t leaving him behind. I’d seen a phone number engraved underneath his name and as soon as I got him safely into my car I was going to help him get back home.*
Phearsom
*hops onto a large pile of clothes in the back seat, immediately sinks to the bottom. Chews on a shoe hungrily*
WithoutSunlight
Arthur I’m sorry it’s such a tight squeeze in here, I wasn’t expecting to pick up hitch-hikers. *I handed two apples to the dirty little goat who was now trying to flatten out along the top of my suitcase wedged into the passenger seat. Grabbing the phone I quickly dialed the number on the tag. Over joyed to hear it ringing at the other end.*
Murhder
-Shoveling popcorn into his mouth with both hands he frowned as the phone beside him rang, effectively disturbing the Alf marathon he had been watching for most of the day. Waiting for someone else to pick it up, he growled when it was apparent he was the only one awake and where the fuck was Fritz? With a growl that sent popcorn flying from his mouth, he answered none too pleased- YEAH!
Phearsom
*Stretches out on the suitcase, munches my apples. Ponders eating the suitcase as well. Sneezes... apple seeds flying*
WithoutSunlight
*Surprised at the hostility coming from the other end of the phone, it took a minute for me to get anything out.* Uh, hello?
Murhder
-With a mouth full of popcorn, he growled into the phone- what do you want female.
WithoutSunlight
*Glancing at Arthur who was now chewing on the door handle I took a deep breath and tried to explain.* Hi, I have found your goat Arthur and would like to return him to his home. Can you please tell me the way? *Closing my eyes and thinking how lame that had probably sounded.*
Murhder
-He smirked and rolled his eyes- look lady Vishous ain't here..he's the one into that shit.
WithoutSunlight
*Eyes Wide* What? No wait, I have your PET goat, the one who lives there. Who is this please?
Murhder
-He looked at the reciever with furrowed confused brows before speaking again- it's Murhder..who the fuck is this? Are you one of those chicks from the club?
WithoutSunlight
*Rubbing my eyes with my fingers, of course it had to be Murhder who'd answered. Using my best speaking to a child voice I asked* Is there someone else there at the house that I could talk to? Others have been searching for this little guy and I'd like to help.
Murhder
-He growled again, fully aware that a search had been on for the little green demon- no..not us. Wrong number. -The phone rang like a bell as he slammed down the reciever and looked at it as if the goat might come through Ma Bell's lines.-
Phearsom
*chews on a seatbelt, likes the console better. Very chewy*
WithoutSunlight
*Not willing to let Murhder keep Arthur from his home, I smiled at the goat and took the sweater away from him.* Don’t worry Arthur. *I typed ‘Caldwell New York’ into the Garmin and figured I’d just try calling again once we reached the city. Maybe then we’d have better luck, I know Arthur is well loved and missed by many. Smiling over at my little passenger I promised.* Sit tight Arthur, You’ll be home safe and sound real soon.
Phearsom
*Full from the door handle, apples, granola and seat belt, army crawls across the suitcase into your lap. Curls up, falls quickly asleep. Senses we are getting closer to to home. Snores happily*
WithoutSunlight
You’ll be home safe and sound real soon.
